The course discusses the role of financial markets and financial institutions in increasing natiomal economic efficiency and social welfare. The necessary conditions for a stable financial environment and the political, legal and economic structure of financial institutions are analysed.

 

In particular the role and importaance of central banking system and a well functioning commercial baning system are highlighted. Recent developments in the globalisation of financial markets and their impact on local economies are also emphasised.
